Policy Title: Charitable Solicitations
Policy Code: KHF
Lead Department: Superintendent's Office

Print Version (in PDF)

The Governing Board supports both the principle of voluntary charitable giving and the principle of fair and reasonable access of charitable organizations to employees and students of the District for the purpose of soliciting voluntary charitable contributions.

Charitable organizations seeking to solicit funds from students or staff throughout the District shall meet all the standards identified in KHF-R Charitable Solicitations Regulation and complete an application with all required documentation. This request is submitted to the Superintendent for review. The Superintendent may make a recommendation to the Governing Board for possible approval.

This policy allows:

  • Employees the opportunity and convenience of contributing through payroll deduction or direct contributions.
  • Employees to retain focus in the educational environment and the workplace.
  • That the contributions collected are used to provide direct health and human welfare services to the greatest number of TUSD residents.

A charitable organization is approved for a maximum of five (5) years with the opportunity to renew by completing the application and providing up-to-date information. Yearly updates are required.

All approved organizations with expiration dates are listed in the Exhibit - KHF Charitable Solicitations.

The present organizations approved by the Governing Board will be grandfathered in for the school year 2006/2007, but must submit a new application as outlined in Exhibit KHF-E2 - Charitable Solicitation. These organizations will provide the required yearly updates beginning with the 2007/2008 school year. Any new organization will follow the new policy and regulation.

The Governing Board will review the list of approved organizations at least annually and at any other time as circumstances warrant. Any modification additions or removals of organizations on the approved list will be made at a public meeting.
