Credit for Distance Learning Courses
Tucson Unified School District will accept credits earned for successful completion of a distance learning course provided by a school or school district other than TUSD with the following requirements.

  • The District will accept not more than two credits or four semester courses from any combination of correspondence and distance learning courses from a school or school district other than Tucson Unified School District to meet the District's high school graduation requirements. The grades received for distance learning courses will not be used to determine the student's grade point average or class rank while attending a District school.
  • The same course or a similar course is offered in the District curriculum, and the distance learning course was provided by a school that is fully accredited (excluding special programs accreditation) by one of the following accrediting agencies:
    • New England Association of Schools and Colleges
    • Southern Association of Schools and Colleges
    • Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
    • North Central Association of Schools and Colleges
    • Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges
    • Western Association of Schools and Colleges
    • National Catholic Educational Association
    • National Lutheran School Accreditation
    • Christian Schools International
    • National Parent Schools Accreditation Agency
    • Department of Defense Education Accreditation

The Superintendent may adopt regulations as necessary or appropriate to implement this policy.
